A Wellington en 1960, Tony Eagleton, un Anglais qui avait déjà joué avec Tommy Steele et Marty Wilde, fonde Tony & The Initials qui sont Barry Grehan, rythmique, Alan Ruffell, rythmique, et Harry McConnachie, batterie.
Le groupe devint rapidement populaire. Ils enregistrèrent pour Kiwi Records 3 albums et de nombreux simples avec beaucoup de morceaux chantés.
En France EMI sortit un EP sous le nom « Les 4 Kiwis ».
Magic-Records a eu la bonne idée de rééditer le 45 tours et 6 titres du LP en cédé.
